Behind the work

About Tilly Zegers.

Tilly founded EINDeloos to introduce people to her CouturedeMur and bring it together with many other distinctive artworks and design pieces in one place.

After working as a costume designer for several years, Tilly turned to making ‘tailored suits for the wall’ around eight years ago, naming them CouturedeMur.

CouturedeMur are life-size textile pictures, portraits, abstract compositions and figures made from woollen furnishing fabrics. Fabric sides and a backing are added before the work is stretched over a seven-centimetre-deep wooden frame and hand-sewn closed at the bottom.

As well as being a unique wall artwork, a CouturedeMur has valuable acoustic properties. It brings colour, warmth and balance to an interior, providing a counterpoint to hard surfaces.
